We only offer units that meet the following quality criteria, which is about 1 in 30 units removed from service:

• The condensing coil must be in good shape to allow sufficient air flow.
• The compressor windings must have greater than 25 megaohms resistance to ground using a 500 VDC source. This is the most common mistake made when consumers buy used units. Just because a compressor runs doesn’t mean it’s windings will last longer than a few months. Buying a system with weak compressor windings is a terrible investment.
• Fan motor and blades must be balanced and not show excessive signs of wear.
• We also install new capacitors and contactors in our used air conditioners (and when installing new compressors).

Note: If your compressor has crashed, it often makes better financial sense to replace it with a brand new compressor rather than install a used outdoor unit.
